Guest: Lee Haywood, founder of Online Safety UK and a former Police Community Support Officer, presenting his organisation's own research. Published 24 April 2024 (a Twitter Spaces recording), so platforms and guidance discussed are as they stood then.

What this covers

  • Online Safety UK's research into what parents and teachers say about how safe online platforms are for children, and its report's findings.
  • Tips for keeping children safe online.
  • Resources schools and families can use.
  • What should be taught at home and in school about staying safe online.

Before you act on it

Schools' online safety duties sit in Keeping children safe in education and the DfE's filtering and monitoring standards; teaching about online safety is part of the RSHE statutory guidance.
