Early Years Self-Review Questions for EYFS Leaders (2026/27) are self-review questions for EYFS leads, headteachers and governors in schools with nursery or Reception classes. 2026/27 edition, rewritten for the early years evaluation area of the Ofsted school inspection toolkit (v2.0) for inspections from 7 September 2026.
The questions cover what the toolkit says inspectors consider, including a well-sequenced curriculum, communication and language, daily story time, phonics and early mathematics in Reception, preparing children for a good level of development, safe sleeping and food and allergy plans, and staff spending their time with children rather than compiling evidence.
